A little about Sharon.

Hi! My name is Sharon Barker. I was born and raised in New Jersey. I’ve loved art since I was a kid! I’ve always wanted to be an art teacher. I fell in love with ceramics in the Fall of 2017, when I went to my first Raku festival at the Visual Arts Center of NJ. After that I was hooked and there was no stopping my knowledge of all things pottery!

I started out just taking classes. My obsession evolved to being a class monitor/helper. I started helping out with the kiln until I was officially a kiln assistant, and I even ran as the kiln person for a whole summer for the kids camp! When I found out that the art center had a pugmill I jumped at the chance to volunteer to pug clay for the studio. I also learned a lot about mixing glazes!

All of these moments brought me to the conclusion that I’d love to have a space to grow as a potter and a teacher. Also that I’d love to put all my skills to the test and have the chance to continually do all the things I love for as long as I can. I’m so happy you decided to come to my site to see what I’m about. Please look around the site and if you see something that sparks an interest I’d love to meet you in person! (^_^)
